Aurora Home Catches Fire New Year’s Eve Morning

CHICAGO (CBS) — A west suburban home caught fire Sunday morning in Aurora.

Crews were on scene about 11:45 a.m. battling the flames inside a two-story home in the 400 block of Pierce Street, according to the Aurora Fire Department.

The fire was called in by a resident who stated that he was attempting to thaw out frozen pipes in the basement of the home with a propane heater. | Jim Desomer, Aurora Fire Department

The fire spread throughout the walls of the home, prompting firefighters to pull out of the home and go defensive in putting out the flames, according to the fire department.

Information on the cause and origin of the fire, and whether there were any injuries, was not immediately available.
