(CBS) Cubs slugger Kyle Schwarber has been moved up in the lineup for a win-or-go-home Game 6 of the World Series on Tuesday night.
Schwarber will hit second as the Cubs face Indians right-hander Josh Tomlin, teammate Anthony Rizzo told ESPN 1000 told on Tuesday afternoon. There will be domino effect following, with Kris Bryant moving to third and Rizzo moving to cleanup, Rizzo said. Ben Zobrist is expected to bat fifth.
Schwarber hit fifth during the first two games of the World Series in Cleveland. Because he hasn’t been cleared to play defense yet as he’s in the early stages of a return from a serious knee injury, Schwarber was limited to one pinch-hitting at-bat in the three games at Wrigley Field.
As manager Joe Maddon announced Monday, rookie Willson Contreras will catch right-hander Jake Arrieta.
The Indians lead the series 3-2.
