CHICAGO (CBS) — A shooting inside a home in far south suburban Monee left one woman dead, another family member seriously wounded Wednesday night. The suspect also was later found dead.
Officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 4900 block of Main Street around 8:10 p.m. learned a 47-year-old man had shot two female family members. The shooter had fled the scene before police arrived.
One woman was critically wounded, and later was pronounced dead at Franciscan St. James Health in Olympia Fields. The other woman was seriously wounded
About 90 minutes after the shooting, the suspect’s vehicle was spotted about a mile away near Will-Center and Dralle roads. Police found the man in the vehicle, fatally wounded.
Police said no other suspects were involved, and the community is not in danger.
No motive has been determined as of Thursday morning. Police have not officially declared the case a murder-suicide investigation, but did say only the immediate family was involved.
