(CBS) At long last, on his 10th time on the ballot, Tim Raines has been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
A 23-year MLB veteran outfielder who spent five years with the White Sox, Raines received 86 percent of the vote to gain entry to the 2017 Hall of Fame class. The threshold for being elected is 75 percent.
Raines was one of three players to be elected, as longtime Astros first baseman Jeff Bagwell and catching legend Ivan Rodriguez also made it.
Bagwell had 381 votes(86.2 percent), while Raines had 380. Rodriguez garnered 336 votes, which was 76 percent. Closer Trevor Hoffman just missed the cut, garnering 74 percent.
A seven-time All-Star, Raines was a career .294 hitter with a career .810 OPS and 808 steals.
